The Shakespeare Challenge #1

The Shakespeare Challenge is a fun little hop being hosted by my good friend The Bookaholic. If you love Shakespeare and want to know more about the challenge and how you can participate check out

In honor of The Shakespeare Challenge, today I'm going to share a favorite excerpt from A Midsummer Night's Dream:

"If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
 While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
 Gentles, do not reprehend.
If you pardon, we will mend.
And, as I am an honest Puck,
 If we have unearnèd luck
Now to ’scape the serpent’s tongue,
We will make amends ere long.
Else the Puck a liar call.
So good night unto you all.
Give me your hands if we be friends,
 And Robin shall restore amends."

~Puck Act 5, scene 1

This week's questions:

How do you feel about the movie(s) that have been done that are “inspired” by Shakespeare’s work ? Is this a step back from getting people to see the plays in live action on a stage?

I do watch the movies and like them for the most part, but it's always been a dream of mine to go to a theater and see a real play, with actors, props/sets, the whole nine yards. I've never had the opportunity to go to one because the only theater in the area is a children's theater and they don't do any Shakespeare there :p  but I'm bound and determined to see a real Shakespeare play someday.

Romeo and Juliet.
Perhaps one of his most famous works. Love it? Hate it? Or are you just indifferent?

I actually really love Romeo and Juliet, it's easily one of my favorites. It was actually the first play I ever read by Shakespeare, my oldest brother gave me an old copy he had because I was always bugging him for new things to read. Out of all ten people in my family my oldest brother and I are the only ones that are addicted to books and reading, go figure. After I read it I knew that this wonderful story filled with romance and tragedy would be a favorite.

What is/are your favorite(s)?

Well obviously Romeo and Juliet but I also have a few other favorites, The Tempest, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
