Night Time Contemplations

My brain seems to wander pretty much all the time, but at night its constant. Jumping from one topic to the next without hesitation. But of course I'm used to it by now as it's been this way since I was a kid. I was always told I had an interesting imagination, which is a bit of an understatement.

I never had a problem keeping myself entertained as a kid, I'd stay outside all day and make up all kinds of games and then there were the make believe quests, for those days when I was feeling a bit more adventurous. And of course there was always writing and reading to pass the time. I still remember my mom threatening to take away my books and outside playtime as a punishment whenever I started acting a bit too snarky. Needless to say I got the point rather quickly :p

I have a lot of interesting dreams, some good and some not so good but interesting none the less. I get a lot of inspiration for writing from my dreams. More often than not, my poetry and stories will be based off of bits and pieces of dreams I've had. Although I'm not really into horror stories, I've had some dreams that could turn into some pretty narly horror stories if I ever find myself so inclined to write one. But that's a pretty small "if", considering the fact that I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to the subject of horror :p

A lot of the time it seems that the majority of people grow out of their imaginations, once they hit the so called "Grown Up" world. But I'm one of the lucky ones so far, I've hit that "Grown Up" world with my imagination still intact and as strong as ever. I honestly hope I never loose it, it's my escape from the madness of the world and gives me some form of sanity when everything else is utter chaos. Yeah I get weird looks from family members and friends but I really don't ever remember a time when I didn't, so it doesn't bother me really lol.

Some people may think I'm a bit off my rocker and slightly mad, and I very well may be :)

As it was so wonderfully put in this quote from one of my favorite movies;

Mad Hatter: "Have I gone mad?" Alice: "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are."

  1. Lol that sounds almost just like me seriously. I was an "outside" kid a lot of the time when I was younger and books and writing my main sources of course. Punishments involved threats of taking those away. Haha. My dreams are very vivid and I draw a lot of my inspiration in my writing from them- including my horror pieces (one difference between you and I, I do write horror haha :P)
    There's nothing wrong at all with being in the "Grown Up" world with your imagination. I'm halfway to 27 and still proudly own mine. :D
    Loooovveee the quote, too. <3 Alice in Wonderland.

  2. Lol we do seem to be very similar you and I :)
    Although I just never really got into the whole horror thing, I'm too wimpy lol. But I might get over it one of these days if I find a horror story with a plot I just can't resist :)

    I'm so glad I still have my imagination, and I'll consider it a great accomplishment to still have it when I'm old and grey :D

    And Alice In Wonderland is amazing!
